We’re providing an opportunity for black boys to receive access to prestigious organisations that offer a range of admirable and respectable career options.

The Decision Factory (TDF) are a Community Interest Company focused towards the development of black youth. TDF have partnered with Arup and a local Manchester-based primary school to launch the first phase of our Black Boys in Business – Phase 1 Programme (BBIB).

The programme is designed to grant access to the wonderful world of Built Environment Consultancy with both the company leadership teams and the technical experts who deliver some of Arup’s most exciting projects. This phase of the programme will be focussing on boys aged 9-11 and will be hosted at Arup’s Manchester office.

Date: Tuesday 13th – Thursday 15th August 2019
Time: 10:00 to 15:00 (daily)

For boys attending Black Boys in Business – Phase 1, they’ll be hosted across three days by a senior representative from either consulting/engineering who will interact with the boys providing them with a brief overview. The curricular for these days will take the format of workshops. Use of Arup’s great digital technology will be showcased for those in attendance to view and potentially use. The end goal here is to show these boys an alternative route to success by catching young minds from an early age before negative connotations of ‘success’ begin to form.
